Why does Partial Reconfiguration fail on some Intel® Arria® 10 devices ?

Environment

    Description

    Due to a problem in the Intel® Quartus® Prime Software version 17.1, rbf files generated for partial reconfiguration can't reprogram low density Intel® Arria® 10 devices (160K, 220K LEs). 

    The partial reconfiguration initiated via JTAG finished with a timeout error. 

    The partial reconfiguration initiated from the HPS host in SoC device hang and board must be power cycled to recover. 

    This partial reconfiguration programming files problem only affect devices with 220K and 160K LEs density.

    Resolution

    This problem is fixed in the Intel® Quartus® Prime Software v18.0.
