Requirements to configure a system to create RAID volumes
- No option in BIOS that allows the system to set up a RAID. Intel® Optane™ Memory and Storage Management
- Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST) apps not able to set up the RAID
On supported platforms, RAID can be enabled in the BIOS or the OS using the Intel® Rapid Storage Technology driver/software
If these options are not available, it may be due to an issue with the configuration:
- Are there enough drives in the system to support RAID? See related information.
- Is the system configured properly to support Intel RST RAID? See below.
Note | Contact the system vendor for specific compatibility, drivers, and setup in the BIOS, as the steps below may vary. |
- Press the F2 or Del key as the system starts to power on to enter the BIOS.
- Locate and change the SATA Controller from AHCI to RAID/Intel® RST Premium.
- Locate the Intel® Rapid Storage Technology menu.
- Select Create Volume and follow the prompts to configure the volume.
- If you wish to create/manage volumes in the operating system, this can be done after step 2 above within supported Intel RST applications for your platform.
- Press the F10 key to save the BIOS settings and exit the BIOS Setup program.
Note |
Check the Readme file and the Release notes for the Intel RST driver package to confirm support for your platform/OS. See the related article links below. |
If AHCI is enabled in the Chipset SATA Mode in the BIOS, the RAID is not going to be able to be created and the Intel® RST will not work.
