If one or more compute modules do not power up:

  1. Monitor the POST LEDs on the front of the module. If they do not come on, remove and reinsert the compute module, or try another slot.
  2. Connect a local keyboard and monitor to the front of the module. If it shows a display, note any error messages and suggested resolutions.
  3. Check the Firmware tab through the management console. There may be instructions or actions required of the user listed there.
  4. If you have other compute modules booting normally:
    1. Try powering off and temporarily removing a working module.
    2. Move the compute module that does not power on, to the working slot. Verify that the processors and memory are on the Tested hardware and operating system list.
  5. Clear the CMOS. See the Technical product specifications for jumper locations.
  6. Try booting from the Emergency BIOS Image. See the Technical product specifications for the jumper locations.

If you can see the compute module start to boot, but it does not reach the OS, or if it starts to update firmware but cannot finish, make sure that Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI) is set as the first boot option in the BIOS boot manager.
