Enterprise services for the on-premise edge, covering both indoor and outdoor locations with Intel's Converged Edge Reference Architecture, CERA. Choose CERA for on-premise and outdoor deployments in industrial, retail, transportation, smart city, and many more IoT segments designed to support multiple workloads like AI, networking, media, and more on a single platform built on a cloud-native architecture.

This reference architecture is integrated with Intel hardware technologies, foundational software, and software ingredients such as OpenNESS, OpenVINO, FlexRAN, and other [INAUDIBLE]-- all of these contributed by Intel and other ecosystem partners. The Internet of Things, IoT, will be empowered by the potential of 5G and will demand wireless compute capabilities for smart devices at the edge. Industrial, retail, transportation, and other IoT segments are now looking at opportunities to utilize these connected devices to provide innovative services, drive efficiencies, and generate new revenue streams.

But solution providers are challenged to keep up with demand from enterprise customers who want intelligent edge compute on a private wireless network for inference, analytics, and more. But building, testing, and onboarding IoT solutions at the edge is costly and complex. Network parameters, 4G, 5G compliance considerations, various form factors, and lengthy development times impact deployments.

Only a unified platform that is based on CERA on-prem can overcome these challenges. CERA on-prem provides a platform with improved security for private wireless infrastructure and builds on the traditional capabilities of uCPE. Seamlessly scaling from the cloud to the edge, these platforms can process a variety of workloads that come together to offer an enhanced user experience in IoT use cases, such as traffic analysis, advanced smart checkout, and facial recognition.

One such use case is person of interest detection as we demonstrate now. In the person of interest detection use case, live streams of high definition video captured by an on-premise IoT device are transferred over an LTE wireless access network to the virtual EPC, where the IP stream from that specific UE is then identified and routed by OpenNESS to the OpenVINO edge application running on the same converged edge node to detect a person's identity.
