Vik

There's an approach to making art that unites the extraordinary friends that Vik Muniz has assembled for "Friends of Vik Muniz for Spectaculu." You might describe it as an aesthetic of reclamation. More simply put, these artists make beautiful things from seemingly tossed away materials.

Meet Vik's friends. They have designed T-shirts that will be sold at select Levi's stores around the world. These T-shirts will raise awareness and funding for Spectaculu, an arts and education non-profit in Rio de Janeiro. Intel has donated Intel-inspired Ultrabooks™ to the school. Together, Levi's and Intel are inspiring creative learning.

Mark Bradford

Mark Bradford, Visual Artist
Mark Bradford is best known for his large-scale paintings made from materials that he gathers from the streets around his Los Angeles studio. Using both collage and décollage techniques, Bradford creates abstract works that can be seen as topographies of the city's physical as well as social, economic, and cultural landscape. Bradford's work has been featured in preeminent museums such as the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Studio Museum in Harlem, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Tate Modern, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, among many others. In 2009, Bradford was the recipient of the MacArthur Genius Award.

Campana Brothers Campana Brothers, Designers
Fernando and Humberto Campana, the Brazilian brother design duo, have long been known for their unique combination of craft-meets-contemporary, recycled-meets-high design furniture. The Campanas have garnered massive critical attention for their innovative furniture made from everyday materials and waste products like cardboard, fabric scraps, rope, aluminum wire, and plastic tubes. The Campanas solo show at New York's MOMA distinguished the brothers as the first Brazilian artists exhibited in the museum. Their work is in permanent collections of major art and design museums worldwide. In 2001, the designers were honored with the prestigious Design Award at the Museu da Casa Brasileira (Brazilian House Museum), and in 2008, Design Miami awarded the Campana Brothers with the Designer of the Year prize.
